Curated by Marc Barbey

Hein Gorny (1904-1967) was one of the most sought after and versatile photographers of his time. Gorny worked as a commercial and industry photographer as well as a portrait, sport and animal photographer. He was published between 1929 and 1950 in design and art magazines, as well as in many other kinds of publications in Germany and internationally, especially in France.

On the occasion of this exhibition, we are pleased to publish a text by Klaus Honnef on Hein Gorny, "Hein Gorny - Renewer of Photography". Please write to: info@collectionregard.com to obtain the text.

Quotes from the text: “These images, shimmering between abstraction and objectivity, offer a grandiose symbiosis of New Objectivity and New Vision, represent a substantial portion of his photographic work in the 1930s. They establish Hein Gorny as an innovative, original and uncompromising picture designer. The clarity and accuracy of his pictures, their transparency for hidden connections and their striking lacony are captivating. The serial image structure, in which the essence of the photographic medium is reflected, replaces the traditional composition. Not in the slightest corrupted by the commercial advertising context his aesthetic attitude convinces with its authenticity.

... Hein Gorny was in reality a genuine visual artist who pushed the new and managed to seal it with his photographic competencies to a visual triumph... "
